Quest for Happiness: Week Nineteen

 emperors new groove GIF

It’s awesome when you can still feel like this during a week when you didn’t meet all of yours goals.

Fitness:

  • Long-term Goal: Shape the body I want and become healthier.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Keep up working out.
    • Status: Hell yes. I worked out five times last week and it was amazing. Due to a procedure I had to get done this week, working out will on the back burner just to make sure everything is smooth health wise (and it should be, just being extra cautious). I do hope to try and go on walks, though.
  • This Week’s Goal: Eat well.

Writing:

  • Long-term Goal: Edit three books, write four new books and query at least one.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Research. Write. Edit.
    • Status: Made progress. I did a very small amount of research on how to write three-dimensional characters and I did finish writing my short story, so that went well. I also came up with a game plan with my fellow Muses to write more, starting today. So I’m going to destroy this rut.
  • This Week’s Goal: Complete in-depth write up of Artemis’s character.

Reading:

  • Long-term Goal: Read 60 books.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Write review and read every day.
    • Status: Halfway. Review was written, but I didn’t read at all. Oops.
  • This Week’s Goal: Read!

Relaxation:

  • Long-term Goal: Create and maintain a mindset that taking care of yourself is just as important as everything else.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Read outside once when the weather is awesome. Figure out a new video game to conquer.
    • Status: Complete. This is a weird goal, sometimes. I didn’t read outside and I didn’t start a new game, but started playing Destiny again, so technically I didn’t do want I “wanted” to do. But I did find time to relax over the week (including watching two-thirds of the LOTR trilogy yesterday) so this goal is still complete, even if what I did was different than what I’d thought I’d do.
  • This Week’s Goal: Get outside.

Blogging:

  • Long-term Goal: Increase output over all three blogs, i.e., post more consistently.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Catch up on reading blogs!
    • Status: Yep!
  • This Week’s Goal: Catch up writing reviews over video games.

Financial:

  • Long-term Goal: Manage money with more awareness, start retirement fund and build savings.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Only buy what is necessary.
    • Status: Success…if you ignore that lunch I bought catching up with the bestie…
  • This Week’s Goal: Get ready to pay June’s bills.

I can’t believe it’s already been 19 weeks (well, counting this week) since I started focusing on the ways I wanted to improve myself and my life. I’ve definitely met a lot more success this go around than I ever have before–and I think these weekly updates are a huge part of that. So thanks for checking out these posts and not getting annoyed with me that they happen. 🙂

Onward to another kick ass week!

Cheers.

Quest for Happiness: Week Eighteen

Fitness:

  • Long-term Goal: Shape the body I want and become healthier.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Alternate running and lifting.
    • Status: Kicked ass. I worked out six–yeah, six–times last week, running three times and lifting three times. It felt amazing. It was amazing. Now to keep it up (maybe not six days every week, but definitely every time that I can).
  • This Week’s GoalKeep up working out.

Writing:

  • Long-term Goal: Edit three books, write four new books and query at least one.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Research. Write. Edit.
    • Status: Still…nothing. Lord help me, I don’t understand what I’m so scared of. Why I am constantly putting writing on the back-burner so I can complete everything else. I hate it and something’s gotta change. Immediately.
  • This Week’s Goal: Research. Write. Edit.

Reading:

  • Long-term Goal: Read 60 books.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Finish The Bloodbound and write reviews.
    • Status: Almost! I did finish both The Bloodbound and Warlock Holmes, though I only wrote a review over one.
  • This Week’s Goal: Write review and read every day.

Relaxation:

  • Long-term Goal: Create and maintain a mindset that taking care of yourself is just as important as everything else.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Play Andromeda during the thunderstorms.
    • Status: Complete! Not only did I get to play Andromeda during the storms, but I also BEAT the game. Booyah.
  • This Week’s Goal: Read outside once when the weather is awesome. Figure out a new video game to conquer.

Blogging:

  • Long-term Goal: Increase output over all three blogs, i.e., post more consistently.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Blog twice.
    • Status: Complete…if you count the Week Seventeen goal’s post, which, honestly, I usually do. But I was hoping to get two additional posts written.
  • This Week’s Goal: Catch up on reading blogs!

Financial:

  • Long-term Goal: Manage money with more awareness, start retirement fund and build savings.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Reevaluate finances for May.
    • Status: Sorta.
  • This Week’s Goal: Only buy what is necessary.

So Week Seventeen, a little bit of heartbreak motivated some killer workouts–and I still managed to get some other things done, too. And though I feel pretty proud of that, I’m still upset that I’ve been unable to overcome this weird, fear-inspired mental block when it comes to my writing. I haven’t felt whole in months. So I must figure out something. A change in routine, lessening my commitments, reorganizing my schedule…something. Hopefully this week, I can figure it out.

Cheers.

Week Seventeen

Check the level, bro.

Fitness:

  • Long-term Goal: Shape the body I want and become healthier.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Workout three times. Practicing eating slowly and actually tasting all of my food.
    • Status: Sorta. I did work out three times, but I still haven’t mastered the eating slowly concept of the Naturally Slim program. Eating quickly is going to be hard habit to break.
  • This Week’s GoalAlternate running and lifting.

Writing:

  • Long-term Goal: Edit three books, write four new books and query at least one.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Research how to make characters have more depth. Edit two chapters. Finish short story.
    • Status: Nada. Why is this so difficult to accomplish!?
  • This Week’s Goal: Research. Write. Edit.

Reading:

  • Long-term Goal: Read 60 books.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Finish The Bloodbound and Warlock Holmes: The Hell-hound of the Baskervilles.
    • Status: Halfway. I did finish Warlock (which, holy shit), but I haven’t finished Bloodbound yet.
  • This Week’s Goal: Finish The Bloodbound and write reviews.

Relaxation:

  • Long-term Goal: Create and maintain a mindset that taking care of yourself is just as important as everything else.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Finish the loyalty missions!
    • Status: Nada. While I didn’t play Andromeda last week (and still need to do Peebee’s loyalty missions), I did hang out with friends and celebrate my best friend getting married, so I’ll count that as some relaxation.
  • This Week’s Goal: Play Andromeda during the thunderstorms.

Blogging:

  • Long-term Goal: Increase output over all three blogs, i.e., post more consistently.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Blog twice.
    • Status: Nada. Didn’t blog at all, but sometimes, you just run out of time.
  • This Week’s Goal: Blog twice.

Financial:

  • Long-term Goal: Manage money with more awareness, start retirement fund and build savings.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Not need to pull anything else out of savings.
    • Status: Success!
  • This Week’s Goal: Reevaluate finances for May.

So, I didn’t focus on writing like I wanted to. Most of my free time was taken up trying to stay on top of my internship before I was swapped with the bestie’s wedding stuff, so hopefully this week I can finally break that block and start pursuing my passion again. The hole of not doing so is real. I’m also trying to get back into running, so hopefully Week Eighteen is awesome!

Cheers.

Quest for Happiness: Week Sixteen

Another week down, another week to continue pushing forward, chasing happiness every step of the way.

Fitness:

  • Long-term Goal: Shape the body I want and become healthier.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Actually try out eating a week by Naturally Slim’s principles.
    • Status: Not really. Though the principles of Naturally Slim are fairly simple, it’s surprisingly difficult to do on a consistent basis (eating slowly, for example; always taking 25 minutes, at least, to eat). But I’m working on it.
  • This Week’s Goal: Workout three times. Practicing eating slowly and actually tasting all of my food.

Writing:

  • Long-term Goal: Edit three books, write four new books and query at least one.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Research how to make characters have more depth. Edit two chapters. Finish short story.
    • Status: Nada. I really need to get back into writing again before I go crazy.
  • This Week’s Goal: Research how to make characters have more depth. Edit a chapter. Finish short story.

Reading:

  • Long-term Goal: Read 60 books.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Write book review. Read every day!
    • Status: Success!
  • This Week’s Goal: Finish The Bloodbound and Warlock Holmes: The Hell-hound of the Baskervilles.

Relaxation:

  • Long-term Goal: Create and maintain a mindset that taking care of yourself is just as important as everything else.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Hang out on planet four and maybe makes some strides in the main quest.
    • Status: Success!
  • This Week’s Goal: Finish the loyalty missions!

Blogging:

  • Long-term Goal: Increase output over all three blogs, i.e., post more consistently.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Blog twice.
    • Status: Success! Doubled that with four posts last week on this blog, plus a review and a Waiting on Wednesday post with the other blog. Felt good.
  • This Week’s Goal: Blog twice.

Financial:

  • Long-term Goal: Manage money with more awareness, start retirement fund and build savings.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Go grocery shopping and don’t buy anything unnecessary.
    • Status: Almost. Wendy’s, you damn temptress.
  • This Week’s Goal: Not need to pull anything else out of savings.

Week Fifteen turned out to be not too shabby! Week Sixteen, the focus will definitely be on reading and writing, as those are two passions that bring me the most happiness yet I have been putting both on the wayside lately–and that is not okay. Time to re-energize and refocus.

Cheers.

Quest for Happiness: Week Fifteen

So, last week, I was sicker than I was the week before, so productivity wasn’t exactly my strong suit. My groove was thrown off, if you will–and you can tell, with how many goals I didn’t meet last week.

Fitness:

  • Long-term Goal: Shape the body I want and become healthier.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Complete Week Two and get back to the gym.
    • Status: Forgiven. With as sick as I was, trying out a new lifestyle surrounding how and when you eat isn’t exactly smart. Plus, hacking up my lunges make working out impossible. So I’m going to let last week’s goals slide, yet go at this’ week’s goal with vigor.
  • This Week’s Goal: Actually try out eating a week by Naturally Slim’s principles.

Writing:

  • Long-term Goal: Edit three books, write four new books and query at least one.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Edit two more chapters.
    • Status: Nada.
  • This Week’s Goal: Research how to make characters have more depth. Edit two chapters. Finish short story.

Reading:

  • Long-term Goal: Read 60 books.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Write book review.
    • Status: Nada.
  • This Week’s Goal: Write book review. Read every day!

Relaxation:

  • Long-term Goal: Create and maintain a mindset that taking care of yourself is just as important as everything else.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Beat another planet on Andromeda.
    • Status: Success! And I only screamed three times when invisible enemies surprised me and tried to kill me. Plus, killed an Architect and made it through a Kett Base without dying.
  • This Week’s Goal: Hang out on planet four and maybe makes some strides in the main quest.

Blogging:

  • Long-term Goal: Increase output over all three blogs, i.e., post more consistently.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Okay, actually actually catch up on reading blogs.
    • Status: Success! I managed to read through all my favorite blogs and comment on most of them.
  • This Week’s Goal: Blog twice.

Financial:

  • Long-term Goal: Manage money with more awareness, start retirement fund and build savings.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Maintain tight budget.
    • Status: Success! Back to the frugal life for the next few weeks, but that’s A-OK with me!
  • This Week’s Goal: Go grocery shopping and don’t buy anything unnecessary.

Luckily, groove can always be regained and this week, I’m ready to dance.

Quest for Happiness: Week Fourteen

Let’s see how I did, shall we?

Fitness:

  • Long-term Goal: Shape the body I want and become healthier.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Complete the first week in the Naturally Slim program.
    • Status: Partial? So, I did watch the videos for Week One of the program. However, because I wasn’t feeling too hot, I didn’t actually alter my eating habits at all to try and follow their advice. So I’m hoping, once I kick this cold out, that’ll be able to start trying those out.
  • This Week’s GoalComplete Week Two and get back to the gym.

Writing:

  • Long-term Goal: Edit three books, write four new books and query at least one.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Get halfway through Round One edits.
    • Status: Nada. I did get another chapter down, but not much further than that. Still, progress is progress!
  • This Week’s Goal: Edit two more chapters.

Reading:

  • Long-term Goal: Read 60 books.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Finally finish The Desert Spear.
    • Status: Almost. I seriously have 20 pages left in this book. Goodness me.
  • This Week’s Goal: Write book review.

Relaxation:

  • Long-term Goal: Create and maintain a mindset that taking care of yourself is just as important as everything else.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Keep playing Andromeda without guilt.
    • Status: Success! I didn’t get to play as much as I wanted, but definitely enjoyed the times I got to play (especially the night it rained).
  • This Week’s Goal: Beat another planet on Andromeda.

Blogging:

  • Long-term Goal: Increase output over all three blogs, i.e., post more consistently.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Actually catch up on reading blogs.
    • Status: Nada.
  • This Week’s Goal: Okay, actually actually catch up on reading blogs.

Financial:

  • Long-term Goal: Manage money with more awareness, start retirement fund and build savings.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Don’t spend any unnecessary money. ANY.
    • Status: Nada. My bank account isn’t as bad as I feared it would be, but it definitely needs some strict management.
  • This Week’s Goal: Maintain tight budget.

So, not the best week. It’s crazy how a little old cough and feeling slightly under the weather can throw off my entire groove. Which sucks, because last Monday, I felt so productive and on top of things. Hopefully this week, I’ll be able to do better.

Cheers.

Quest for Happiness: Week Thirteen

Definitely ready to get back on the grind after a busy (and unproductive) but enjoyable weekend. It’s getting to that point in the year where everything is about to get hectic and crazy, so self-care is going to be important. But so is productivity, which I haven’t been tonight, so this post is going to be “short,” comparatively speaking.

Fitness:

  • Long-term Goal: Shape the body I want and become healthier.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Workout four times.
    • Status: Partial! I worked out twice, so not too shabby!
  • This Week’s GoalComplete the first week in the Naturally Slim program.

Writing:

  • Long-term Goal: Edit three books, write four new books and query at least one.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Fix first chapter and first 50 pages.
    • Status: Almost! I did fix the first chapter and edited the first few chapters, but only reached around the page 30 mark. But I’m making more progress than I have in months, so I’m okay with that.
  • This Week’s Goal: Get halfway through Round One edits.

Reading:

  • Long-term Goal: Read 60 books.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Read every day.
    • Status: Success!
  • This Week’s Goal: Finally finish The Desert Spear.

Relaxation:

  • Long-term Goal: Create and maintain a mindset that taking care of yourself is just as important as everything else.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Help the Angara on both their planets.
    • Status: “Success.” Though I didn’t actually help the Angara on Voeld, I did play a hefty amount on Thursday, since work on my second job got canceled. So I definitely relaxed, which is the main goal.
  • This Week’s Goal: Keep playing Andromeda without guilt.

Blogging:

  • Long-term Goal: Increase output over all three blogs, i.e., post more consistently.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Catch up on friends’ blogs. Write one post.
    • Status: Sorta? I wrote two posts instead of one, but definitely did not catch up on blogs like I wanted to. So win some, lose some.
  • This Week’s Goal: Actually catch up on reading blogs.

Financial:

  • Long-term Goal: Manage money with more awareness, start retirement fund and build savings.
  • Last Week’s Goal: Calculate how much I still need to save in order to pay off London trip.
    • Status: Success.
  • This Week’s Goal: Don’t spend any unnecessary money. ANY.

Have a wonderful week, lovelies!

Cheers
